According to foreign media Cnet, L'Oreal will launch a micro-wearable device called UV Sense at CES 2018. This raindrop-sized button helps the user protect against skin cancer. The company developed the first battery-free wearable device that measures UV exposure.
The tiny electronic sensor is only 2 mm thick and 9 mm in diameter and can be placed on nails, sunglasses or any other item that is exposed to the sun.
UV Sense is reusable and re-bonded, allowing fashion-decorated products to cleverly disguise as nail art.
UV Sense can be used with companion apps for iOS and Android to sync and convert data from sensors using NFC. The collected data allows the user to determine when to pay attention to UV exposure. For example, if a user connects a sensor to a sports shoe and sees a general trend of ultraviolet radiation on the running route, the habit can be adjusted by taking better sun protection or selecting other routes for the exercise.
L'Oréal UV Sense will be exclusively available through dermatologists in 2018 and is expected to be launched globally in 2019. Although the pricing has not yet been finalized, L'Oreal said that the price will be around 40 US dollars (about 260 yuan).
