Morphological characteristics

The wolfberry is a traditional Chinese medicine product of plants. The original plants are mostly parasitic on Pinus massoniana or Duanmu. Its growth and development can be divided into two stages: the mycelium (white filaments) stage and the sclerotia stage. During the mycelial growth stage, hyphae absorb moisture and nutrients from the surface of the wood, secrete enzymes to decompose and convert the organic matter (cellulose) in the wood, and allow the hyphae to spread vigorously in the wood. The second stage is that the mycelium agglomerates in the middle and later stages and gradually forms sclerotia (also known as knots). Scarring size is closely related to the quality of bacteria, nutritional conditions and temperature, humidity and other environmental factors. Different species of bacteria, the length of scarring is also different, and some species began to scar in 3 to 4 months after planting, and some are slower and take 6 to 7 months. Precocious species can be harvested 9 to 10 months after planting, while late-maturing species require 12 to 14 months.

The common culprit is its sclerotia. Mostly irregular blocks, spherical, flat, oblong or oblong, etc., are of different sizes, such as small fists, the largest diameter of 20 to 30 cm, or more. The epidermis is gray-brown or dark brown with a tumorous shrinkage. The inner white is slightly pink and consists of mycelium. Fruiting bodies umbrella-shaped, 0.5 to 2 mm in diameter, mouth slightly toothed; not easily seen in sexual generation, honeycomb, usually attached to the sclerotinia of the skin, early white, gradually turned into light brown, hole for polygon The rods are rod-shaped, and the spores are oval to cylindrical, slightly flexed, with one end pointed, smooth, colorless, and with a special odor.

Geographical distribution

Parasitism on the roots of the pine plant, Pinus koraiensis or Pinus massoniana, is 20-30 cm deep underground. Points [1] cloth Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shanxi and other places.

Ecological conditions

He likes to be warm, dry, sunny, avoid blowing from the north wind, and is most widely distributed in pine forests at an altitude of 700 meters. The temperature is preferably 10 to 35°C. Hyphae can grow at 15 to 30°C, but it is suitable at 20 to 28°C. When the temperature dropped to 5 °C or rose above 25 °C, mycelial growth was inhibited, but still able to tolerate the short-term temperature of -1 - 5 °C will not freeze to death.

The soil is well-drained, loosely ventilated, sandy soil with less sand and mud (60% to 70% of sand), and the soil layer is 50 to 80 cm deep, and the upper layer is solid, the water content is 25%, and the pH is 5-6. Acidic soil is the most suitable for mycelial growth. Avoid alkaline soil.
