East China University of Science and Technology provides efficient detection of new molecular probe tools

At present, the clinical diagnosis of liver cancer, especially cholangiocarcinoma, lacks high sensitivity and specific tumor markers, making early detection and treatment of hepatobiliary tumors a medical problem. Recently, East China University of Science and Technology and the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital of the Second Military Medical University have made progress in the application of two-dimensional fluorescent molecular probes to detect malignant tumor markers, providing a new molecular probe tool for the efficient detection of malignant tumor markers. It also reveals a potential tumor marker for hepatobiliary tumors. Related work was published in the internationally authoritative academic journal Advanced Materials (Adv. Mater.DOI: 10.1002/adma.201604253).

According to reports, CD47 is a kind of glycoprotein widely distributed on the surface of human cell membrane and proved to be overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. However, due to the lack of effective protein detection tools, CD47 has a fresh protein expression level in liver cancer and cholangiocarcinoma. See the literature report.

Based on this key medical issue, Dr. He Xiaopeng, Associate Research Fellow of East China University of Science and Technology, Dr. Bean Weitao and Dr. Pan Yufei and Dr. Dong Lijun of the Academician Wang Hongyang of the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital have cooperated closely through the interdisciplinary “medical-worker” collaboration model. A simple supramolecular assembly strategy was constructed to construct a probe material combining fluorescent peptide ligands with two-dimensional molybdenum sulfide, and the fluorescent "off" property of this probe composite revealed CD47 in liver cancer and cholangiocarcinoma cells. Over-expressed. More importantly, the research team also applied such two-dimensional probe materials to achieve clinical tissue markers for the diagnosis of primary liver cancer and cholangiocarcinoma, and effectively distinguish cancer from adjacent tissues by fluorescence.
