Lagerstroemia flowers add new varieties

Introduction: The crape myrtle flower is unique in the flower market because of its unique flower pattern and bright colors. It is deeply loved by the public. Recently, there are three new varieties of crape myrtle that have been reviewed by the Office for the Protection of New Plant Varieties of the State Forestry Administration and have added new members to the crape myrtle family.

The three new crape myrtle varieties jointly developed by the National Flower Engineering Technology Research Center and the School of Landscape Architecture of Beijing Forestry University are respectively named “Feng Hua Jie Dai”, “Mian Qian Xue Xue” and “Zi Zi”. Currently these three varieties of crape myrtle The flower has just passed the substantive examination of the experts organized by the Bureau of Plant Variety Protection of the State Forestry Administration. The crape myrtle family has added new members. These three new varieties enrich the existing types of crape myrtle, and all have good market application and promotion prospects.

During the review process, the expert group observed the traits of three new varieties of crape myrtle in the field and confirmed the specificity, consistency, and stability of the new varieties. It is understood that these three new varieties are interspecific hybrids, with good ornamental and obvious specificity. "Fenghua Jiedai" is a hybrid of Lagerstroemia grandiflora and Lagerstroemia crassipes. The "Melaleuca laevigata" and "Aster" are hybrid offsprings of the Yoshihikari crape myrtle and the crape myrtle. "Mileen snow" has a large amount of flowers, a long flowering period, and bright colors. The "Fenghua Dynasty" has a large flower, plant type development, and no strong, "Aster" plant type flat or sagging, flowers are purple, long flowering period.
