4. Distillation, cooling Prepare a stainless steel steamer. Place the steamer in the steamer. Lay a layer of gauze on the rice dumpling and loosely spread the ginger powder on the gauze. The surface of the ginger powder and the upper layer of rice dumplings should retain some space to facilitate the penetration of water vapor. Steam was passed under the steamer to maintain the vapor pressure at 0.12 to 0.13 MPa. In this way, the steam passes through the ginger powder, and the ginger oil in the ginger powder vaporizes due to the high temperature of the steam, and the distilled water enters the cooler through the steam distillation pipe. The water gas and the vaporized ginger oil are cooled in the cooler to form an oil-water mixture.
5. Oil-water separation: The oil-water mixture is collected at the outlet of the cooler by an oil-water separator. After standing, the oil-water is automatically separated. The upper layer is ginger oil and the lower layer is water. The use of a separator to remove the lower layer of water results in a ginger oil product. This method is generally: 100 kilograms of ginger powder can extract 3 to 4 kilograms of ginger oil.
