Pipette use and precautions

The pipette is a precision liquid-removing device that can be adjusted freely within a certain capacity range. The product has the advantages of stable performance, flexible use, high reliability and easy maintenance. Here's a detailed introduction to the use of pipettes, I hope to help everyone.

How to use the pipette

1. Liquids suitable for standard operation: water, buffer, diluted salt solution and acid-base solution.

1) Press to the first gear and enter the liquid surface a few millimeters vertically.

2) Slowly release the control button, otherwise the liquid entering the tip of the tip will cause the liquid to sink into the pipette and reduce the suction volume inside.

3) When the liquid is applied, it is attached to the wall and has a certain angle. First press the first gear and pause for 1 s. After the remaining liquid is gathered, press the second gear to push out the remaining liquid.

Second, the removal of viscous or volatile liquids

When removing a viscous or volatile liquid, it is easy to cause a large volume error. In order to improve the accuracy of pipetting, the following methods are recommended:

1) Before pipetting, pre-wet the inside of the tip with liquid, that is, repeatedly sucking the liquid several times to pre-wet the tip, and it is better to stay for a few seconds when aspirating or discharging the liquid. Especially for the removal of bulky liquids (eg 1000~1), it is recommended to remove the tips before they are wetted.

2) Adopt the reverse phase pipetting method: press the second gear when sucking liquid, slowly release the control button, press the first gear when the liquid is pressed, and some liquid remains in the suction head.

Third, the wrong method of pipette

1) When pipetting, the pipette itself is tilted, resulting in inaccurate pipetting (should be absorbed vertically, slow suction and slow release).

2) When assembling the tip, the force is too strong, which makes the tip difficult to detach (do not need to use too much force, choose the tip that matches the pipette).

3) Lay the pipette with the residual liquid tip (the pipette should be hung on the pipette holder).

4) Use a large-scale pipette to remove small volumes of sample (should choose a pipette of the appropriate range).

5) Press directly to the second gear (should be operated according to the above standard method).

6) Wash the pipette with acetone or a highly corrosive liquid (should be operated with reference to the correct cleaning method).
