Bovine vesicular stomatitis is an acute infectious disease. It is characterized by blisters and erosions in the oral mucosa, nipple skin and hoof skin of cattle. The pathogen is a vesicular stomatitis virus of the Rhabdoviridae family. The virus has two main types and several subtypes, and there is no cross-immunity between the types, and the resistance to external factors and commonly used disinfectants is weak. The disease is mostly distributed in a certain area, often occurring in summer. Symptoms
The incubation period of the disease is 3 to 5 days, and the elderly can reach 9 days. The initial body temperature of sick cow disease is 41 ° C ~ 42 ° C, mental depression, loss of appetite, ruminant reduction, ear root fever, dry nose, plenty of drinking water. Small blisters with large rice grains appear on the tongue and lip mucosa, and the small blisters gradually fuse to form large blisters with a transparent yellow liquid inside. After 1 to 2 days, the blister ruptured, and after the blister skin fell off, the bright red spots with shallow edges and irregular edges were left behind. At the same time, the sick cows flow out a lot of clear sticky saliva, and they make a lip sound, and the sick cows have difficulty eating. Sometimes, sick cows can also have blisters on their breasts and hooves. The course of disease is 1 to 2 weeks, and the general outcome is good, with very few deaths.
Precaution
After the disease occurs, the sick cattle and suspected sick cattle should be isolated and the infected areas should be closed. Contaminated barn, site and utensils are disinfected with 2% to 4% sodium hydroxide solution.
treatment method
The disease is mostly benign, and the nursing can be cured. If the oral mucosa has a plaque, use 0.1% potassium permanganate solution to rinse the mouth, then apply iodine glycerin.
