Russian scientists discover nanogel particles that control skin cancer

Release date: 2017-02-22

The Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences has recently developed nanogel particles that can be used to encapsulate a variety of substances beneficial to the human body, such as unsaturated fatty acids that are beneficial to the heart, brain and blood vessels, as well as various herbal antioxidants. The results were additionally discovered by researchers when they studied the useful properties of various herbal antioxidants in the leaves of fruits and certain plants, and the particles were successfully produced.

Human health is inseparable from unsaturated fatty acids, while omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids cannot be synthesized by themselves, only through food intake. Russian researchers use protein molecules and other biopolymers to form the nanoparticles, ensuring the addition of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and antibiotics to any type of food (eg, various juices, yogurt, soy sauce, ketchup, etc.). When oxidizing agents, there is no need to worry that they will destroy the taste of the food or be oxidized and lost due to chemical reaction with molecules in the food, and the calories of the food will not be changed.

Such nanoparticles are especially beneficial for those who live farther away from the sea and receive less omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from other sources. Through the mouse experiment, these nanogel particles can overcome skin cancer.
